What Is Laser Therapy?
Laser Therapy, or “photobiomodulation”, is the use of specific wavelengths of light (red and near-infrared) to create therapeutic effects. These effects include improved healing time, painreduction, increased circulation and decreased swelling. Laser Therapy has been widely utilized in Europe by physical therapists, nurses and doctors as far back as the 1970’s. Now, after achieving FDA clearance in 2002, Laser Therapy is being used extensively in the United States.

What our patients are saying about Laser Therapy
I came to Dr. Shaw to address a knee complaint that has been stopping me from running. My orthopedist said I have to stop running because it's creating arthritis in my knee and that is what is causing the pain. On a consult Dr. Shaw reviewed my x-rays and agreed there was some arthritis, not anything significant for my age. He discovered a muscle behind my knee and inner thigh that was so irritated and painful when he touched it, he said that was the problem. I didn't even know that pain was there. He told me if he gets rid of those two areas of irritation
and puts my pelvis back in balance I’ll be back running again. He prescribed a course of treatment that involved adjustments to my pelvis, hip and knee and K- laser treatments. That muscle behind my knee he identified as the problem, in the beginning he could barely touch it, as it was so tight and painful. The K-Laser therapy was unbelievable in how effectively it reduced the pain and inflammation, probably 6 treatments and that untouchable area no longer hurt. Dr. Shaw advised me to try to get back running again and have been ever since without any pain. Very thankful for the careful attention to my individual needs, and very grateful
to be back running.

For years I have been suffering and tolerating neck, shoulder and arm pain due to the work that i do as a hair stylist. More recently, my hand and forearm have been going numb, making it difficult to work and sleep. The doctors suggested carpal tunnel surgery. Dr. Shaw’s exam revealed more to me than any other doctor. Neither the neurologist, orthopedist or GP even much examined me. Dr. Shaw hands on approach is very thorough and comprehensive. He showed me where my pains and irritations were.
I had confidence in his ability, he told me from his exam that things I was just tolerating, like fatigue, brain fog, moodiness and sleep issues were related to the stresses and tensions he detected in my neck.
His plan of adjustments, therapies and laser treatments addressed all of my complaints in my neck, arm and hand. Additionally, my energy, sleep and mood has improved. The laser therapy treatment was painless and aided my recovery it literally took the muscle pain out of my forearm and neck. I had areas in my neck and at the base of my skull and forearm that could barely be touched due to irritation and the laser took it away.
Thank you Dr. Shaw and Ati for your care and expertise. Had I not gotten your postcard mailer I would likely have had surgery.
